BRASS TACKS PRESS was co-founded by JAMES MATHERS and lifelong friend PABLO CAPRA at their home at the Rodeo Grounds Artists Collective in Topanga Canyon, CA in the early 2000's.

Over the years, this indie publishing house has produced close to 100 books of poetry and graphic novels, many of them written by and/or illustrated by Mathers.
